Malema says the EFF is ready for anything.
Leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Julius Malema, spoke to South Africa on Tuesday about the upcoming national shutdown on March 20. He stated that workers who offer critical services "shall have access to their workplace" and that important services will be preserved.
Malema declared, "Our structures will cooperate, we'll ensure that clinics and hospitals are operational, and we won't interfere with the Nehawu strike. PSR association issued their concerns about strike, association manager said 'this could be a negative to us since we won't operate as usual.
Every EFF chapter, public official, and progressive force would "throw his or her body on the streets," he said, to defend the protesters. Businessmen are not happy with this strike since other businesses won't be working. Even Universities won't conduct lectures, University of Zululand has issued statement alerting staff members that on monday they will be no classes.
Julius Malema, the head of the EFF, issued a warning to businesses on Wednesday to close their doors on Monday during the party's "shutdown," claiming that the sheer volume of demonstrators in the streets will make it difficult for any business to be open.
