AZAPO URGES RESIDENTS TO "FIGHT TO REMOVE ANC FROM POWER" ON HUMAN RIGHTS DAY.

Every year on March 21, Human Rights Day is observed as a national holiday to remind South Africans of the sacrifices made throughout the fight for democracy in their country. On Tuesday, opposition parties canvassed locals in Sharpeville during celebrations of Human Rights Day.

Political parties took turns speaking from the stage as flags of all sizes, colors, and shapes were paraded through the graveyard. To honor the 69 persons who were slain by apartheid police in 1960, organizations such as the Pan Africanist Congress, Azapo, Actions, and the African National Congress (ANC) organized wreath-laying rituals at the Phelindaba Cemetery.

At least 180 additional people were hurt in the atrocity while protesting pass laws. The sacrifices made by individuals who are buried there were considered by all the political parties, including the ANC.

Sharpeville has planned commemorative activities for Human Rights Day. Bold claims were made by opposition parties to attack the ruling party. The Gauteng provincial government co-hosted the main event with the PAC and Azapo.Simphiwe Hashe, the head of Azapo, attacked the ruling party after extending a warm welcome to all parties.

"Our struggle must extend beyond Ramaphosa. It should be our goal to overthrow the ANC. Our current revolution is a result of this. Otherwise, the lives of these people would have been lost in vain.

According to Funzi Ngobeni of Action SA, the goal of their rally was to show Sharpeville residents that there is an alternative to the ANC.Yet, democracy—the ability for us to use our right to vote and to replace the government if it doesn't perform as expected or treats us fairly—is the most significant achievement they have been able to achieve for us.
